It’s here. A new year. A new decade. Are you excited? I think I am. Looking across my twitter feed, I can see that a lot of you are excited for the new year. While I love the excitement and I’m really excited to share my goals with you this year, I feel like its important to point out one key thing.
While lots of us (myself included) use the new year to kickstart the goal setting into action. We need to remember that this isn’t our only time to take that opportunity. Everyday, is a day to set a new goal or even pick one up that you’ve fallen back on.
“There is nothing magical about January 1st”
What I’m trying to tell you is, any day can be your January 1st. So don’t be too hard on yourself if you fall down at all this year, we can always get back up and start again. You just have to be always willing.
And one more thing: Do not set yourself too many goals! Do not make it impossible for yourself and make sure you allow yourself to achieve what you set. Hit a goal throughout the year? Replace it with another one, it can be a glorious continuous cycle of empowerment.
That being said, here’s what I’m hoping to achieve this year.
As some readers will know, we moved into our first home in 2019. While its new, shiny and wonderful – we still have some cosying (is that a word?) up to do. i am very much someone who thrives in a clean, comforting environment – so a little home decor is needed. I also plan to do this on the cheap. Don’t worry, I’ll be sharing bits soon!
Reading is always on any goal list of mine because its so empowering and I love, just love getting lost in a good book. I definitely read more last year (win!) but I want to continue that streak. I was also really lucky and extremely thankful to be gifted a kindle by my mum for Christmas. This makes reading on a commute so much easier for me!
I just want to point out that I’ve been inspired by Alice Spake, to keep tracking of all the books I’ve read via twitter this year – so look out for that!
side note: I also wanna watch more films – but I don’t think that’s as note worthy as discovering more books!
Last year, I paid for a membership fee to a blogging programme called Grow & Glow. It’s been a great learning experience so far but I’ve fallen slightly behind – balancing work etc can be a real struggle in the lead up to Christmas! But nevertheless, I’m ready to schedule in some time in and really work on it. I actually love learning, so i’m excited about making this a goal.
I’m also planning to just keep growing this little internet home of mine, I’m not setting any specific targets just yet, all I want to see is some kind of growth and to be completely honest with you – I’m really happy with this mindset. It feels like im being kinder to myself. Does that make sense?.
I was really thankful to receive an Instax camera for Christmas. As a result, I’ve bought myself a little scrapbook (I’m going to name it 2020) and pledge to capture more memories. From everyday things to special occasions, it will be nice to look back on some day.
I’m slowly taking a turn with this blog to uncover more and more of Cambridgeshire. I’m so thrilled I can happily call this my home now and I plan to explore every little corner from the mainstream to the otherwise unseen.
Are you local to cambridgeshire and have a hotspot you think I should visit? Let me know in the comments below!
And there are my power goals for 2020, I’m really excited for this year and I’m actually really excited for January in particular. There’s something about this month that just feel overwhelmingly fresh for me.
What do you have planned for 2020?
