One to remember
I really never thought I would see something like a pandemic in my lifetime, let alone be celebrating my birthday through it. It’s so crazy, right?
I’m really not that fussed about my birthday usually, but I will admit that I felt a little sad that seeing mum on my birthday was taken away from me as an option.
However, I was determined to make the best of it. Although we cannot choose what cards we are dealt, we can choose how we react to them. So I woke up early (I always seem too on a holiday day) and was treated to such a lovely surprise.
I was given breakfast in bed, with copious amounts of tea, of course! I was then even treated to my own private Easter egg hunt around the house. One of the benefits of having a birthday on Easter, you get a double celebration.
Literally, the rest of the day was spent outside in the glorious sun, I honestly feel so lucky to have a house with a garden right now. Although we haven’t really touched our garden since we moved in, its still the perfect place to just grab a picnic blankets & your kindle. Thats really all you need to have a good time.
How I am feeling about lockdown
Lockdown life was a little crazy to start with, like everyone I found it overwhelming. However, unlike everyone, I did not panic buy. Maybe I should have as I have found it harder to buy eggs in my life.
However, now we are over 3 weeks into it, I’m really enjoying this switch of lifestyle, I wouldn’t say its slower paced but it is forcing me to rethink what is a priority in my life. Its allowed me to reflect on what I truly value.
I will say, I am still keeping a schedule on daily things I want to do, from tasks to downtime. I spent the first couple of weekends just chilling on the sofa and just felt so bored and unchallenged so putting a plan back into my routine has been a game changer. I’ve also finally had time to read a book, so a win win!
What I think I will do, is reflect on how I am doing with lockdown regularly, sometimes writing things down just helps, you know what I mean?
