There’s always a new trend in social media marketing, be it, polls, video or storytelling. Theres always something to try and see if your audience connects with it. Be you a brand or blogger. Social media marketing can fit to anyone, you just have to find your purpose with it. So I’ve been thinking about three things that I really do feel will either become a trend or remain a strong trend in 2018.
Video marketing on Social
Video marketing has already grown so much in popularity throughout 2017 and is currently the most shared type of content on facebook. Why? Probably because an audience retains more information through visual content over images or text. So why wouldn’t brands want to market more with video?
There’s a higher chance of your brands message getting across correctly and more accurately. Plus a higher percentage that your video will appeal to your audience and have a higher share rate. Thats something crucial for video marketing in 2018, brands need to learn to create video content that can be successful on social organically, especially as paid social media advertising is on a heavy price increase.
Interaction on social should always be a consistent trend. I mean thats the whole point of social. To be social. However the trend of each way to interact on each platform is forever changing. So I have a small prediction for 2018 on what types of social content will be a big trend across all platforms and I think that will be Polls.
There always been a poll option on twitter and recent introduction on instagram has gone down amazingly well with different types of audience. I find content where you are asking and reaching out to your audience for their opinion works better than direct content. You’re inviting them to engage – thats inclusive for both parties. With rumours that Facebook is adapting their poll format on post, to make it more interactive, its definitely a form of content to watch out for.
Its also important to test this type of content with different question styles, different timings, hashtags etc to where and when you can optimise on this content.
An increase in Mobile specific content
More and more consumers are getting their social fix from their phone. This is normal, I think social media has always meant to be an on the go interactive platform. While the using social on desktops etc is important for creating ad campaigns (a bigger screen allows you to be precise i feel) However from the consumer end – i think social should be suited to mobiles where you can interact and share quicker and easier.
Have a look at the canvas feat on facebook business. A perfect place to look at how mobile specific content will work in the future.
What do you think will become a trend for social media in 2018? Are you ready to try out the new trends and see how they work for you?
